This event concluded on July 15, 2021. Please see below for the recording in Spanish.

Subnational and non-state actors- including companies, investors, cities, states, regions, universities, civil society organizations and others- are contributing to the growing momentum of 1.5C-aligned climate action in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and beyond. Their leadership is all the more critical in the decade ahead (2020-2030) when the world needs to cut emissions in half, invest in climate preparedness and address development needs while recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Please join the Alliances for Climate Action and CDP in a webinar to understand how subnational and non-state actors can lead by example in the LAC region through bold target setting and implementation, transparent reporting and collaboration with other actors to champion the transition towards net-zero, climate-resilient societies.

In this webinar we will provide an overview of the Alliances for Climate Action (ACA) initiative and its collaboration with the UNFCCC Race to Zero Campaign to help signatories articulate and implement bold 2030 and 2050 climate targets. The webinar will also cover the importance of disclosure and how CDP can help companies, financial institutions and subnational governments transparently report on their commitments, and advance the 1.5C-aligned vision of the ACA and Race to Zero Campaign. How to Step Toward Real Zero Emissions in 2050: Participate in the Race to Zero (Japan Region)

This event concluded on July 1, 2021. Please see below for the recording in Japanese.

Across the world, the number of non-state and subnational actors actors who have declared "net zero emissions by 2050" and are taking concrete actions to realize that goal is rapidly increasing. In Japan, the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures was amended on May 26 and stipulates that Japan aims to decarbonize by 2050. To achieve this goal, all Japanese actors are required to take immediate action toward decarbonization.

Against the backdrop of these domestic and international trends, the Japan Climate Initiative (JCI) encourages active participation of all non-state and subnational actors such as companies, local governments, universities, and organizations who want to know how to start efforts toward the realization of virtually zero emissions in 2050. As an official partner of the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) international campaign, "Race To Zero," JCI promotes the efforts of its members to reach virtually zero emissions by 2050.

In this webinar learn why the world is aiming for virtually zero emissions by 2050, what is the significance of the Race To Zero, and concrete efforts that will help us to start our journey toward virtually zero emissions in 2050, including next steps.

Your Path to Net-Zero: With support from CDP and the Race to Zero Campaign (North America Region)

This event concluded on June 15, 2021. Original event details are available here on the Japan Climate Initiative website. Please see below for the recording.

Join America Is All In, Alliances for Climate Action (ACA), and CDP North America for an introductory webinar on how to share your climate disclosure through CDP. CDP is a nonprofit organization that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states, and regions to manage their environmental data. Many small and medium-sized enterprises and higher education institutions also participate in CDP disclosure. Representatives from CDP will explain how disclosure works, the benefits of doing so, and what kind of support you can expect to receive from the CDP team.

Sharing your progress through disclosure is essential to enhance credibility, advance comparable and clear management of climate-related risks and opportunities in the transition to a net-zero economy, and demonstrate accountability to the people and institutions you serve as you act on climate and environmental stewardship.

Publicly disclosing through CDP will also help meet the ‘publish’ criteria as outlined by the Race to Zero campaign and build momentum in the run up to COP26. Alliances for Climate Action will be officially recognized as a Global Accelerator Partner of the UNFCCC Race to Zero Campaign. The partnership will help ACA scale up net zero-aligned climate leadership and recognize actors that are making credible net zero targets. During the webinar, ACA will share how your institution can join this exciting campaign and answer any questions you may have about the process!
